Parasitism of Nonhost Cultivars by Ditylenchus dipsaci.
The alfalfa race of Ditylenchus dipsaci parasitized and caused characteristic symptoms on nonhost seedlings of sweet clover, onion, tomato, sugarbeet, and wheat in controlled growth-chamber studies. Although the nematode was unable to reproduce on any of the cultivars, it caused plant mortality ranging from 20% on sugarbeet and tomato to 100% on onion.
متن کاملfirst report of the stem and bulb nematode, ditylenchus dipsaci, on strawberry in northern iran*
the stem and bulb nematode, ditylenchus dipsaci (kühn, 1875) filipjev, 1936 is one the most destructive plant-parasitic nematode which is widely distributed in temperate regions of the world. it is a serious pest on a wide range of crops including lucerne, red clover, sugar beet, maize, onion, garlic, strawberry and many other agricultural and horticultural plants, especially flower bulbs such ...
متن کاملWater loss and morphological changes during desiccation of the anhydrobiotic nematode Ditylenchus dipsaci
Ditylenchus dipsaci is an anhydrobiotic nematode which can withstand direct exposure to extreme desiccation. Water loss has been determined gravimetrically and morphological changes quantified by light microscopy. Water loss occurs in two distinct phases, with a permeability slump 2 min after the onset of desiccation. The permeability slump remains after treatment with sodium azide or carbon di...

cots in the family Commeliaceae. The basic morphology of these plants appears to favor root-knot nematode development in aboveground plant parts. Leaves of both plants develop in the crown near the soil; they are large, 20-30 cm long, and densely arranged so that nematodes on younger leaves are protected from direct solar irradiation. The dense pubescent foliage, especially the convoluted young...
متن کاملUsing of hydrogen cyanide against Ditylenchus dipsaci nematode present on garlic
The stem and bulb nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci) is a serious quarantine pest of vegetables spreading worldwide via seed and planting material. Currently, a hot water technique is used as the pre-seed treatment, which is difficult to execute and the risk of seed damage is high. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the (a) penetration of gaseous hydrogen cyanide (HCN) into garlic tissue...
